Melody Gabriel was a contestant in Nigerian Idol and the just concluded MTN Project Fame West Africa. She is an artist, diplomat, singer, model, actress,makeup artist, event manager, etc. In an exclusive interview she granted zeeny360.com, as a face of elegance, she revealed her experience in the entertainment industry as well as her love life.
Eze:May we get to meet you? Who really is Melody?
Melody GabrielYes..Melody is easy going,fun to be with,and down to earth person..I'm from Delta state, Agbor to be precise..I grew up and schooled in Benin..I am from a responsible and comfortable family of five children, the third and the last girl.
Interesting. What is your career?
Melody GabrielI graduated from the University of Benin, where I studied International Studies and Diplomacy (ISD). I am a singer, a diplomat, model, actress, makeup artist, event manager,etc
That sounds like a whole lot! How are you able to juggle all these responsibilities?
Melody GabrielHahaha..yeah..I'm not a one-talent person..but music is my first love and will forever be a part of me because its my life..it comes first then the rest follow
Please tell us, how did you develop this strong affinity for music?
Melody GabrielIt all started when I was age four..the 1st song I 'freestyley' did was the Malta Guinness song..I started writing songs at age 10 or so..my name just represents me...since I was born, music has been my thing..maybe I was actually singing in my mums belle..lol
lolzz How did your parents deal with this aspiration of yours?
Melody GabrielThey have been a blessing to me..they have been supportive from the onset..they believe in my dream and support me..In d right direction..same with my siblings.
What works have you been engaged in, in the music industry?
Melody GabrielA lot of music backups for singers, I can't mention which now. I did the last election and 2nd tenor song for Edo State Government election campaign jingle,...Backup for movies n drama,including life, n more...will tell you the rest as we go on.
That's a lot. However, what is your latest known projects?
Melody GabrielNigerian Idol and MTN Project Fame
Oh... Those are definitely famed projects. What were your experiences in these projects?
Melody GabrielI experienced a lot in Nigerian idol and MTN Project Fame..To be focused as a singer, ready at all times, inspirational, good example, serious, stable,f ight for what u believe in, discipline, above all to continue to rely on God and more..
That is interesting. Now, let's take a look at your performance at the Project Fame.
When you performed the Wizkid Tease Me, you seemed to have gotten well into it. Does this have anything to with your type of genre? What made it so?
Melody GabrielOk..haha..I do all genres..but I am more of a soul and R & B singer..
Which would you say you enjoyed more in these performance? UNCONDITIONALLY BY KATTY or TEASE ME BY WIZ KID?
Melody GabrielLol..I enjoyed both..there was no difference in any.One had to do with more of choreography,which Ms Kaffy the Dance Queen put me through. It was fun working with her.
What do you intend to do with the experiences garnered from Nigerian Idol and MTN Project Fame?
Melody GabrielMove forward 'musically'...
What should we be expecting from you soon?
Melody GabrielMy new single or singles...

Melody Gabriel
I'm just trying to make a perfect song, a good one that people can play at every season..and not one that would be played for a particular time and forgotten. No, I want to create an everlasting song..that will also affect the public positively.
Oh... Really? In that respect, who is your role model in the music industry?
Melody GabrielA lot..In Africa, Amongst others are Tuface Idibia,Omawumi, Waje, Tiwa, Shey Shey, Don Jazzy, D'bang, Wizzy wizzy, Davido... Outside Whitney Houston, Jennifer Huston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey,Adele, Beyonce, R Kelly, Usher, Chris brown, and so on.
What challenges have you seen confronting upcoming artists in Nigeria?
Melody Gabriel''Capital'' You need to have the capital..There is a lot of ''Competition''..You just have to come out with something different,to be the best in what you do,and for you to stand out.
Away from music, what are your turn offs with men?
Melody GabrielSnobbish, proud, arrogant, vain personalities
This might sound funny. But as a growing talent, will you be comfortable marrying a fellow star? Especially considering your experiences so far.
Melody GabrielIts all about Love..Where you find love
The entertainment industry is replete with stories of failed marriages even when love was projected. So don't you consider these?
Melody GabrielYeah, its a serious matter..I just think it takes two understanding people, and people who love each other..if its ordained by God, it would definitely work..its for a woman to respect and regard her husband as being the head. And for a man to listen to his wife,understand her and love her. So both of them should support each other..
In your probation performance, one of the judges said: "you look gorgeous, you look beautiful..." Do you concur?
Melody GabrielOf course dear..I knew that since I was 8..lol..
With that pronouncement, lots of men would want to spin their heads and give it a shot at you, with something serious. What will you say, are you available or you have been taken?
Melody GabrielI am single and not searching..
But for any serious dude out there who is single but searching, are you available?
Melody GabrielHahaha

When you aren't working, how do you relax?
Melody GabrielIndoors watching TV, sleeping/resting,reading,thinking/planning my next move,sometimes go out with family,friends and loved ones
Imagine you were married, and you had just one lifebuoy to give out between your husband and your mother, in a ship that is capsizing in the middle of a sea, who would you give it to?
Melody GabrielThis is In two parts,..Part 1, I will save my mother because,she gave birth to me,nurtured me,and showed me an unconditional love,and i can have another husband,but I can't have another mother..Part 2, I would save my husband because my mother somehow has eventually lived all her life,she has also seen all the beautiful and bad moments of life. So my husband should..And my mother would definitely want me to save my husband which I wouldn't want to do because I love them both dearly..so there is no answer to that question...lol
